Literature Text

Bodies crammed together in a room that's filled with life,
Filled with many souls trying to forget all their strife.
Trying to dance the night away 'cause they can't take it anymore.
Gathered all together on the devil's dance floor.

All breaking a sweat and dancing in a frenzy,
Feet moving so fast that it would leave a normal man dizzy.
Escaping the truth of life and all of society's discord.
Gathered all together on the devil's dance floor.

Selling away their souls for the chance to make the earth quake.
They pay no attention to any mistakes they may make.
They stomp out all the pain until the earth herself is sore.
Gathered all together on the devil's dance floor.
Anyone else listen to Flogging Molly?

Well, let there be no doubt that nightclubs are quite the place for that sort of thing (at least that’s my assumption), and hey, what better way to accompany the Devil’s dance floor than with the Devil’s drink? (Cheers!) Emoticon

Going off that train of thought, all I can say is that I’ve only been to a nightclub once or twice in my life, and both times made me realise it just wasn’t for me. But enough about that, time for feedback:

The idea of a dance floor belonging to the Devil is rather odd at first glance, but as I kept reading, it started making more sense. Always being tempted in with the promise of forgetting your troubles, if only for a while, perhaps not knowing you’ll create more problems as you dance and drink, dance and drink some more.

Good sense of rhythm and repetition keeps this piece going strong. The rhymes were pretty solid for the most part too. Finally, describing what happens on the dance floor itself gives off ideas on how everyone feels and the kind of music they’re dancing to. Overall, some real solid work. Also had to agree with demonrobber's thoughts on dancing helping you create a new identity.
